After the Attack Response Window closes, are you able to activate other cards before entering the Damage Step?
If so, what happens when an opponent's monster leaves the field between the Attack Response Window and the Damage Step?
Answer:
Yes you can, however it would not be possible to activate cards that can only be activated in response to an attack (e.g. "Mirror Force", "Sakuretsu Armor", etc.)
When a monster declares an attack, the game allows both players to activate cards that respond to the attack. 1 Chain is allowed to respond to this special event, and once the chain is done it is no longer possible to activate these types of cards. However, the Battle Step doesn't immediately end.
Spell, Trap, and Monster Card Effects can be activated during the Battle Step before proceeding to the Damage Step. Usually non-event specific effects are activated at this time, like "Waboku" or "Gravity Bind".
Replays will still occur during the Battle Step, even after the "respond to attack" Chain has come and gone.
