Six Samurai monsters vs. Sakuretsu Armor: proceed to damage step?

Say Player A has a Zanji and a Yachi face-up on the field.
Player A attacks with Zanji and her/his opponent answers with Sakuretsu Armor.
Player A activates Zanji's effect and destroyes Yachi instead.

What will happen to the declarated attack? Does it proceed to damage step, since the monsters on the attacked field didn't change?

Answer:

The attack will proceed to the Damage Step.

The attacking monster is still attacking and nothing has negated its attack. The monsters on the defending player's side of the field have not changed in any way, so no replay occurs.
