black pendant - when do we apply damage? Empty
PostSubject: black pendant - when do we apply damage?   black pendant - when do we apply damage? EmptySat Jan 20, 2007 7:47 pm

heres a question that came up at one of the tournaments. and i was not sure
on how it should be ruled because both parties made good arguments...

player a had 2550 life points and player b had 2000 life points.. player b
was the turn player..

on the draw phase of player b, player a activates his ring on player b's monster
which was at 2500 atk. and was equipped with a black pendant..

now the argument was does player a win with 50 life points or is it a draw
because of the black pendant?

would the ring resolve first or will the black pendant do its damage first
because the monster is destroyed, taking the black pendant with it?

i ruled player a the winner with 50 life points. how would be ruled...

thanks

Answer:

From the FAQ: "You can chain to the activation of the effect of "Black Pendant" when it is sent to the Graveyard."

"Black Pendant's" effect that inflicts damage uses the chain and can be chained to.

In your example, "Black Pendant" would begin a new chain after "Ring of Destruction" resolves... but Player A wins the Duel due to the damage their "Ring of Destruction" inflicts. "Black Pendant" never gets a chance to inflict its damage.
