Pulling the Rug - Against retained priority? Empty
PostSubject: Pulling the Rug - Against retained priority?   Pulling the Rug - Against retained priority? EmptyThu Apr 05, 2007 4:17 pm

This is already on the FAQ, but we've been receiving it often enough that I want to address it on the list.

First the entry from the FAQ:
"You cannot Chain “Pulling the Rug” to an Ignition Effect that was activated when a monster was Normal Summoned. (“Exiled Force”, etc.)"

Next, we refer to Justin's post explaining the errata to "Pulling the Rug":
http://lists.upperdeck.com/read/messages?id=12419
"What this means is that "Pulling the Rug" can also be used to negate and destroy an Effect Monster with a Trigger Effect that activated when a monster was Normal Summoned, (King Tiger Wanghu, Mysterious Puppeteer, etc.) in addition to an Effect Monster whose own effect activated when it was Normal Summoned (Zaborg the Thunder Monarch, etc.)."

"Pulling the Rug" is only looking for monsters with Trigger Effects that activate in response to a monster being successfully Normal Summoned. This means the ONLY reason the effect activated was SPECIFICALLY because a monster was successfully Normal Summoned.

"Exiled Force" doesn't do that. "Snipe Hunter" doesn't do that. "Card Trooper" doesn't do that. It is not possible to negate their effects with "Pulling the Rug".

"Mobius the Frost Monarch" does: "When this card is Tribute Summoned..."

"King Tiger Wanghu" does: "Destroy all monsters with an ATK of 1400 or less that are Normal Summoned ..."

"Breaker the Magical Warrior": "When this card is Normal Summoned..."

"Cyber Dark Horn", Edge, and Keel do: "When this card is Normal Summoned..."

"Pulling the Rug" can be used to negate their effects because they fall into "Pulling the Rug's" criteria.
