Does the removed card go face-up or down?

Answer:

The selected card is placed in a face-up state when removed from play.

The identity of the card is revealed when it is selected and removed from play. It is not like "Different Dimension Capsule".

if its placed face up....then could you select a d.d. scout plane and then special summon it by its effect at the end phase?
