Barrier Statues Special Summoned by searchers' effects in the Damage Step
If Player A's "Mystic Tomato" attacks Player B's attack position "Giant Rat" and both are sent to the Graveyard, Player A will activate "Mystic Tomato"'s effect first but Player B will resolve "Giant Rat"'s effect first.
If Player B Special Summons "Barrier Statue of the Drought" with "Giant Rat"'s effect what happens to the DARK monster that Player A tries to Special Summon. Does it remain in the Deck or is it sent directly to the Graveyard?
Answer:
When "Barrier Statue of the Drought" is Special Summoned, it will begin to apply its Continuous Effect.
"Mystic Tomato" will try to resolve its effect, but it will be unable to do so because "Barrier Statue of the Drought" will prevent it from Special Summoning a DARK monster. No DARK monster is Special Summoned and the effect of "Mystic Tomato" disappears.
