Crystal Beasts in the S/T Zones? Empty
PostSubject: Crystal Beasts in the S/T Zones?   Crystal Beasts in the S/T Zones? EmptySat May 26, 2007 6:58 pm

I know this probably looks as silly a question as it feels to ask, but as the only Level 2 Judge in Northern Ireland, I'm the one who has to answer all sorts of questions and resolve all sorts of disputes, especially regarding new cards, and the "Crystal Beast" monsters are no exception.

The question itself is fortunately simple, though there is not one way or the other indication in the Rulings above...Do they retain their effects (most importantly "Crystal Beast Emerald Tortoise" and "Crystal Beast Cobalt Eagle", as the other effects could either not activate, or resolve correctly) when in the S/T zones, for example, can you switch a monster's battle position in the 2nd Main Phase (after attacking with it) using the effect of "Crystal Beast Emerald Tortoise"?

Answer:

The Crystal Beasts do not retain their effects while they are being treated as Continuous Spell Cards.

It is similar to how the effects of a monster equipped to "Relinquished" are not active while it is equipped to the "Relinquished".

Are they still counted as Monster Cards for effects such as "Ceasefire", "Just Deserts", "Zaborg the Thunder Monarch", "Skill Drain", etc.?

"Ancient City - Rainbow Ruin" counts "Crystal Beast monster(s)" in your Spell / Trap Zone, so can an effect that destroy a monster card work on a Crystal Beast in the Spell / Trap Zone?

Answer:

Crystal Beasts in the Spell and Trap Card Zone being treated as Continuous Spell Cards. They do not count toward the effects of cards like "Ceasefire" or "Just Desserts", nor can they be destroyed by "Zaborg the Thunder Monarch".

"Skill Drain" is not an issue in this case either, although it certainly does cause problems when they are monsters.
