| Subject: Crystal Beast(s) vs Demise, King of Armageddon Fri May 11, 2007 12:32 pm | |
| At the preview event this past Saturday, some questions arose about the timing of the effects of crystal beasts vs demise effect.
Player A has 3 crystal beasts in his monster zone, 2 face down spell/trap and a field spell (ancient ruins).
Player B has just summoned Demise. No response from player A. Player B pays 2000 LPs to clear the field. How does this all resolve?
My ruling was: Clear field, then crystal beasts can be placed in spell/trap zone. All other cards are destroyed, except Demise.
Is this correct?
Answer:
The three face-up Crystal Beasts destroyed by the effect of "Demise, King of Armageddon" can be placed onto Player A's Spell and Trap Card Zone. The Set Spell and Trap Cards are destroyed and the "Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins" is also destroyed.
"Demise, King of Armageddon's" effect destroys every cards (except itself) simultaneously. The 3 face-up Crystal Beast monsters will be destroyed at the same time as the 2 Set Spell/Trap Cards and the "Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins".
What if Player A had a face-up Crystal Beast in their Spell and Trap Card Zone being treated as a Continuous Spell Card when "Demise, King of Armageddon's" effect resolved? In this case, the "Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins" would not be destroyed, but the 3 face-up Crystal Beast monsters, the 2 Set Spell and Trap Cards, and the Crystal Beast (in its Cont. Spell Form) will be destroyed. The three Crystal Beast monsters could again be placed onto the Spell and Trap Card Zone if Player A decides that is what they want.
