With Manticore of Darkness, it it's effect MANDATORY? It's text is:
During the End Phase of the turn this card is sent to the Graveyard, send 1 Beast,
Beast-Warrior or Winged Beast-Type Monster Card from your hand or your side
of the field to the Graveyard to Special Summon this card from the Graveyard.
Our local Judge ruled this is mandatory because it does not say "you can".

Answer:
You are not forced to activate "Manticore of Darkness'" effect.
If you don't want to activate the effect, you don't have to.
