Future Fusion.. when are the monsters removed from the deck...is that a
cost or part of the effect? We went with part of the effect, but wanted to be
sure.

Answer:
"Future Fusion's" effect does not have a cost.
You do not pay any cost when you activate "Future Fusion." When its effect is
resolved, the controlling player will pull the fusion material monsters from
their Deck and place them into their Graveyard, reveal the appropriate
Fusion Monster from their Fusion Deck, and naturally they will shuffle their Deck.
When their second Standby Phase after activation finally arives, they will
Special Summon a copy of the revealed Fusion Monster from their Fusion Deck.
