I was going to wait to see if the price will drop but I had a chance to get one and so I did.

That is a perfect example of your anger issues. If a boss would tell you do something you don't like you most likely won't do it. You don't listen to what people tell you at all. What'a a "basic" job? Every job wants someone who has referals. If you and me applied at the same place they would most likely hire me because:
1. I'm older
2. I have experience
3. I have past employers who will help me get the job
